A massive weekend was had at country fest and a big thank you to everybody that helped out to make it such a great success.
Remembering Inniskeen Grattans Hononory President and stalwart of the club John Boyle on his months mind anniversary which took place on Sunday 4th of May
The first mention of John Boyle in the Inniskeen story by Larry Meegan goes back to 1959 when John lines out at corner back in the Owen Ward cup quarter final against Ballybay. In 1961 he again lines out at corner back on the Inniskeen, Brennan cup winning team against Sean McDermott's in Ballybay. John continued playing for a number of years but also became involved with juvenile teams in the club and helped to bring future playing talent to senior ranks. A life long friend of the late Paddy O'Rourke, John Boyle worked alongside his alloy for many years in the Inis Caoin Grattans Committee, serving 10 years as vice chairman from 1976-1986. During these years John contributed enormously to the clubs cause, be it bringing young footballers to matches to main gates, steward at club matches or to orchestrate club fund raising. It is indeed at club fund raising that John excelled. An annual poll topper in weekly envelope sales coupled with huge sales of any other club fundraising events all made John the master ingredient he was to the Inniskeen Club. In recent years Cumann Inis Caoin have honored Johns efforts by inducting his name into their hall of fame in 2003 and by electing him and Honoree president of the club.
Anyone able to do steward at the Ulster final on Sunday can you let Gemma know please. Every club is hoping to send 2 stewards to assist on the day
